ETH Trendline Bump and Run Short
Context
During a session a question came in asking to chart ETH. A quick look at the chart revealed a well-respected trendline with the characteristics of a bump and run pattern developing. The short idea was straightforward - the 702 fib and VWAP close sitting above as the key resistance area. A good reminder that altcoins can respect simple levels without needing complicated TA to justify the trade.
Setup
Once price broke upwards and pushed into the 702 and VWAP close zone the reaction was immediate. No complex confluence stack, no overcomplicated TA - just a clean level and a well-respected trendline doing exactly what it was supposed to do. Alert had been set on the zone from the moment the chart was pulled up in the session.
Entry
Short taken at the 702 fib and VWAP close as price pushed into the resistance zone.
Exit / Management
Immediate 2% reaction from the level. Trade ran for a total of 4.7% from entry - a strong result from a setup identified on the spot during a live session.
Daily Imbalance 0.5 Fill + Daily OB Short
Context
The main idea came from the Daily Imbalance created during the impulsive move lower. That drop left behind a large daily candle imbalance, single prints on the daily TPO, and a daily Order Block that had previously been broken with impulse. From previous observations, filling around 50% of these Daily Imbalances often leads to a bearish reaction - especially when that 0.5 level lines up with the broken daily OB backtest. Plan was simple: let price retrace into the 0.5 imbalance and Daily OB zone and look for a short. Alert set on the zone and the level was monitored from the moment the imbalance was identified.
Setup
What made the move higher suspicious was the positioning behind it. Open Interest continuously decreased throughout the rally - suggesting the move was mainly driven by short covering rather than new positioning supporting the push. When price reached the 0.5 imbalance fill area, some short liquidations appeared. Nothing extreme but enough confirmation at an already strong resistance zone to pull the trigger.
Entry
Short entered from the 0.5 Daily Imbalance and Daily OB area as the short squeeze narrative and flow confirmed the resistance.
Exit / Management
Price reacted well and moved around 2% lower from the short zone. Partial profits taken as previous lows were cleared. Additional profits taken once bid-side limits started appearing and defending BTC. Part of the short position still held for potential continuation lower. Stop placed above the daily Order Block with clear invalidation on any acceptance above the OB and imbalance resistance zone.
AVWAP + 0.5 Local Trend Retracement Long
Context
The setup was built around a repetition of the same scenario that had played out before. The anchored VWAP had been holding throughout the uptrend and the previous retracement had come into the 0.5 of the local trend before continuing. The overall move and the way price was respecting levels looked the same on the lower timeframe as it did on the higher timeframe.
Setup
When price first came into the area the aggression and the low weren't great - not enough to act on immediately. Rather than forcing the entry, the plan was to wait. Overnight bull divs formed at the level, giving the cleaner confirmation needed. The anchored VWAP was already set and alerting - the bull divs on the retest were the trigger.
Entry
Long taken on the bull div confirmation at the 0.5 local trend retracement and AVWAP zone after the overnight setup developed.
Exit / Management
Trade ran to TP1 at 1% - the initial pattern repeated as expected. No further follow through beyond the first target but the setup delivered exactly what these fractal retracement scalps are designed for.
12H OB + 1H POC Compound Short
Context
Almost immediately after the daily OB backtest short, another opportunity appeared. Price formed a clean 12H Order Block - a strong area to look for continuation of the bearish trend and a natural place to compound the existing short. Additional confluence stacked up around it: a 1H POC from the aggregated futures volume profile sitting near the top of the 12H OB and that same POC area aligning with a previous high volume region. Strong alignment between structure and volume in the same zone.
Setup
Similar to the previous daily OB trade, the move higher wasn't backed by strong new positioning. Open Interest declined throughout the rally - suggesting the move was mainly a short squeeze rather than genuine buying. Liquidations appeared throughout the move up with additional liquidations coming at the 12H OB high. The same read, the same pattern, one level higher.
Entry
Added to the existing short position as price tapped the 12H OB and 1H POC high volume region. Compounding into a running position at a fresh resistance confluence.
Exit / Management
Invalidation set slightly above the 12H Order Block - idea weakens on any acceptance above the OB. Stronger spot buying would also invalidate the bearish thesis, which never appeared throughout the move.
